One day - Great Western Tiers

This itinerary would also be a great way to spend your day if you’re travelling to Cradle Mountain for a night.

Go west into the wilderness and take the backroads towards Cradle Mountain. There’s a whole days worth of activities and experiences in the Meander Valley under the steely gaze of the Great Western Tiers mountain range before you even get to Cradle. Take the time and enjoy the journey.

First stop out of Launceston is the historic village of Westbury.  The John Temple photographic Gallery is worth a stop as is the Westbury Maze.

Through to Deloraine, stop at Deloraine Deli for coffee and view the extraordinary Yarns Artwork in Silk.

Follow the back road to Cradle taking you via Trowunna Wildlife Park – a great place to meet the native locals; 41 degrees south Salmon farm; Liffey Falls; and Mole Creek Caves.

It’s another hours drive through to Cradle Mountain, or turn around and take a different direction back to Launceston.  On the A1 Bass Highway you’ll find Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm and Ashgrove Cheeses, then roll back into Launceston with your senses and bellies full.
