You’re on holiday – you’ve got a budget, and some days you spend more than you intended. Here are some ideas on how to re-balance the budget justify that splurge you had yesterday!

Deloraine Sculpture Trail

Deloraine is definitely the arts capital of Tasmania and the sculpture trail is the outcome of a joint approach by local artists and commonwealth funding to provide visitors with a look into the human relationship with the landscape. Wander the bank of the Meander River that flows through Deloraine and admire these vibrant sculptures.

Cycling Trails

Borrow a bike or use your own on one of the four marked trails all starting from Deloraine. The four marked trails are designed as ‘out and back’ rides to undertake in half a day or even leisurely over two days and spend the night in the area.  There’s even a Great Gourmet Ride which takes you to some of the fantastic local producers in the area.  Yum!

Walking Trails

There are so many walking trails in the Great Western Tiers, they will soon have their own top list! From 30 minute strolls around the Village Green in Westbury or to picturescue Liffey Falls, through to advanced overnight walks in the Walls of Jerusalem, there really is something to suit everyone.  Mole Creek Tourism Association have produced an overview of the walks in the area, print off the two pages here.

Tasting Trail

Download the Cradle to Coast Tasting Trail android app or iPhone app and pop in to the participating businesses for some free tastings. Try local rapsberries, cheese, salmon, chocolate, honey and wine. Yum! But guaranteed you won’t walk away with bags of stuff to take home.
