Great Western Tiers - Top postcard photo opportunities

Some of the best photo opportunities happen as you are just driving along – don’t fall asleep on the journey, or you might miss some of the most scenic parts! And always allow extra time to get somewhere, you’re almost certainly going to enjoy the backroad way more than the main highway.

Liffey Falls

This is one of the most accessible and easy walks to a beautiful waterfall.  Countless pictures have been taken of the falls.  Create you own masterpiece with the stunning backdrop of the year round falls. Stay for a picnic while you’re there!

Lions Lookout

Detour off Emu Bay Road to this popular lookout and viewing platform where there is a beautiful lion sculpture and information map in cast aluminium that has been set near the western entrance to Deloraine.

Pine Lake

One place that shouldn’t be missed on any visit to this region is Pine Lake. It’s got a boardwalk trail that anyone can do, picnic area, great for the whole family, and it’s really pretty too.

Trowunna Wildlife Park

Snap a shot of a Tasmanian Devil, or feeding a kangaroo – all the native animals can be found at this great conservation sanctuary just outside of Deloraine.

Westbury

Arriving into Westbury is like stepping back 200 years to old England.  It’s off the main road, but well worth the detour to see the beautifully restored historic buildings, complete with Village Green and Town Common.

Meander River, Deloraine

All roads into Deloraine lead to the bridge crossing the Meander River.  It’s a beautiful spot with a walking trails along the river, parklands, play equipment and a swinging bridge across.  So many photo opportunities here!
